Announcing Quarterly Series!
We’re excited to announce that the Austin Academy of Burlesque is transitioning to a Quarterly Course Series, with each quarter dedicated to a different area of burlesque skill development. Each series includes six classes, all thoughtfully designed around that quarter’s theme:
Q1: Burlesque Foundations
Q2: Skills & Props
Q3: Act Development
Q4: Performance Refinement
Students may enroll in the full 6-class Burlesque Foundations Series at a special bundle rate of $150, or choose to take individual classes for $30 each.
Quarter 3 Classes!
July 12th - September 20th
Pop-Up Classes are single-session offerings designed to expand access to our most popular series classes. These classes give students the opportunity to sample high-demand topics without committing to a full series, and may also provide additional spots when regular sessions sell out. Perfect for trying something new, refreshing a favorite skill, or jumping into the fun for a night.
Q3 Series: Act Development
This quarter guides students through the creative process of building a burlesque act from concept to choreography. Students learn how to identify their artistic voice, craft compelling narratives, design acts that suit their strengths, and make intentional aesthetic choices around music, costuming, staging, and emotional tone. Through structured brainstorming, feedback sessions, and guided creation time, students will begin assembling their own unique acts, whether for personal expression, future performance, or portfolio development. By the end of the quarter, each student will have a strong act blueprint (or a fully choreographed piece) ready for refinement.
The Spark: Burlesque Act Development

This creative development class helps performers transform inspirations, concepts, and curiosities into intentional, cohesive acts through guided discussion, journaling, music exploration, and movement-based exercises. In a playful, supportive, and collaborative environment, Kitty McSparkles guides students through creative prompts and exploratory exercises designed to spark inspiration and deepen artistic vision. Open to all experience levels, this workshop is especially valuable for performers looking to develop new acts or bring greater clarity and purpose to existing concepts.
